Like many in our region, we first learned about the devastating flooding in Kerrville through the news. The images and reports coming in were heartbreaking — homes under water, roads washed out, and families displaced. It caught everyone off guard. But within our company, the reaction was immediate and decisive. In a senior leadership meeting that same day, the question was asked bluntly: “What do we need to do now, today?” That one question set everything in motion.
With the ability to mobilize equipment and logistics rapidly, our team got on the phone, mapped out our resources, and got to work. We didn’t wait for someone to tell us what to do — we just started helping.
In the first days following the disaster, we waived all delivery and pickup fees for affected residents and organizations. Then, to further ease the burden, we covered the first month’s rent on all containers sent to the area. Our priority was removing financial barriers for families, first responders, and anyone trying to stabilize their situation. Deliveries to critical zones — staging areas, churches, and emergency sites — were fast-tracked. Internally, we streamlined every process we could to get help on the ground without delay.
One of the most important decisions we made early on was to simply listen. We stayed in close contact with those on the front lines — emergency coordinators, community leaders, first responders — and let them tell us what was most needed. And the answer, surprisingly, wasn’t more supplies. The community had rallied with incredible generosity — donations were coming in fast. The problem was where to put it all.
That’s where we stepped in. Clean, secure storage and temporary office space became the top priority, and we focused our energy there. We didn’t try to guess what the community needed — we asked, we listened, and we delivered.
The feedback from the community has been overwhelmingly positive, though we don’t see our actions as extraordinary. This is our home too. Showing up when it matters most — that’s what being part of a community is all about.
One moment that stuck with us was seeing donations — food, clothes, bottled water, toys — sitting in parking lots, exposed and at risk of spoilage or theft, simply because there was nowhere to store them. It’s not something most people think about in a disaster, but having that basic infrastructure in place is what turns good intentions into real help. We were proud to be in a position to fill that gap.
Our support focused heavily on community pillars — churches, relief centers, and first responder hubs. These locations were the beating heart of the response, organizing aid and distributing resources. By fortifying those centers with storage and operational space, we helped amplify the impact far beyond any one delivery.
Of course, the work wasn’t without obstacles. Flooded or damaged roads made certain areas difficult to access, and rerouting required constant adjustments. But our drivers — true professionals — found ways through. Their determination, matched by the energy from our operations teams, meant we stayed on mission even when conditions made it hard.
Looking back, what makes us proudest isn’t just what we did — it’s how we did it. Everyone, from the yard to leadership, stepped up without hesitation. Many of us had personal connections to Kerrville, and that made the effort deeply personal. This wasn’t just a company initiative — it was a collective act of care.
Going forward, this experience has sharpened Lone Star Mobile’s disaster response playbook. We’re more prepared than ever to mobilize quickly, communicate clearly, and focus where the need is greatest. Our size allows us to be nimble, and we now have deeper connections with local emergency services and community leaders to help guide future efforts.
At the end of the day, this is about being ready — and being present — when our neighbors need us most. We’re proud to be that kind of company.
