Dear Readers –
I wrote last month that tornadoes and storm damage keep me in business. But please. Enough is enough. It would be nice to have a break now and then.
This month’s issue is about getting the word out – about you, about what’s important to you, about goods and services you provide…and the best way to do it. My letter to you each month in The Contractor’s Compass is one way I get the word out to you about what’s on my mind, what ASA is up to, and what’s important to our members. And of course, you have to use multiple avenues of communication. Not every member reads this letter (WHAT!? Reality bites). We rely on emails, our chapters, social media, face-to-face interactions, and phone calls, too. And yes – even with all of that, we miss some folks. So…not that you don’t know all that, but take a look at this month’s issue, and maybe you’ll find some insights that resonate with you.
Here’s what’s on my mind right now:
- Membership Renewal – We’re on it. We’re not forgetting you, and want to make sure we create value for you. If not, let us know. How can we do better? And as a current member, when was the last
time you checked out all of our discounts and resources in InfoHub? - While the time for signing up for the Annual Legislative Fly-In to D.C. has passed, we’re still working on our messages and messaging for our meetings with Congressfolks. Let us know your priorities.
- May is national Mental Health month. But take a moment every day – not just once a month, or one month a year – to do something for you. You give so much. Take a moment. Richard Bright, our beloved CEO and humorist, takes a serious look at suicide – among the elderly, various risks and protective factors, disparities, and depression. How do you know if you, or your loved one needs help? Credit goes to the National Foundation to End Senior Hunger – and Richard – for putting these videos together.
And remember to check out the Foundation site – fasacares.org for assistance in answering your questions about suicide.
So as we spend more time outside – remember – wear sunscreen, DEET, protective gear…and drink plenty of water. And bring along some duct tape and WD40. You never know….
Until next month,
Brad Miller
