Dear Readers –
September is here – as is the start of school, shorter days, and pumpkin spice-flavored beverages. For better or for worse. It’s also National Preparedness Month and Workforce Development Month…and Suicide Prevention Month. We’re taking a look at all three this month in this issue and on our social media channels. Check our list of what to do before and after a natural emergency, and see if you’re ready. Emotionally, we never are, but thinking ahead can save some of that emotional toll. Not just for businesses, but also individuals, families, and communities…are you ready?
September also means the end of vacations (for most), and busy working times before winter sets in. That’s true for me – and also ASA. Here are the highlights.
ASA Health Plan – Small businesses have to watch every dollar, and ASA has partnered with World Insurance to provide major medical coverage for groups of all sizes – from 1 – 1000+. We had a webinar a few weeks back to give you the basics of the program and answer your questions. You can read a summary of the call here {link}in this issue of Compass, or view the entire webinar here.
ASA Think Tank Meeting – We hold this meeting twice a year. It’s open to all members of ASA. We met in Grand Rapids, MI, to discuss the issues most important to your association. The priorities and what we want to accomplish. If you missed this meeting, look out for the next one.
The Attorneys’ Council Fall Meeting – They’re meeting October 20-21 in Jacksonville, Florida to discuss the legal top issues and priorities of subcontractors. What’s being done in each state? If you want to support their work, you can join them for their fundraiser in St. Augustine, or donate any time. As always, thanks for your support! There’s more information in this issue, or go here.
Gearing up for SUBExcel – I can guarantee that before the next Contractor’s Compass comes out in October, we’ll be promoting SUBExcel in New Orleans. We’ve got speakers lined up, topics, and events. Be on the lookout for that information, and block out March 6-9 to join us in New Orleans.
And those are just the highlights! Tons more going on behind the scenes. And we’re always looking for more folks willing to step in, step up to become more involved. Email any of us, or look at the difference committees.
This issue of The Contractor’s Compass focuses on employees – their education, growth, and how to get more tradespeople overall. As always, there’s great, original content from our writers, and if nothing else, please read, study and act on getting prepared for our next natural disaster. Maybe minor, maybe major…but It’s gonna happen.
